What are Company Annual Accounts?
A limited company’s financial accounts are commonly referred to as company accounts or statutory accounts. Each year, businesses have a responsibility to provide the financial activity (Expenses, income, wages, equipment, etc) relating to the most recent financial year.
Businesses are required by law to provide an annual history of all expenses, wages, supplies, equipment, income and outgoings, for the most recent financial year. This is generally a 12 month period that ends on the accounting reference date (ARD), which often falls on the anniversary date the company was incorporated.
Different Types of Company Accounts
Whether a company is dormant or trading, all company’s must provide full and accurate copies of their annual accounts to Companies House (CH) and shareholders as well as any guarantors.
There are three types of classification when it comes to company accounts, applicable to trading companies, these include; small, medium and large.
Companies that are very small, perhaps only have one or two employees are classified within a sub-set called; Micro Entity, within the small category. Usually determined by annual turnover, number of employees, balance sheets and various thresholds.
Preparing your accounts
Your annual company accounts are prepared based upon the book-keeping of your company. After reviewing your company records, we will produce a preliminary and then check it thoroughly. After you are happy with the accounts and the advisories we have made, we will then submit the final set of accounts to HMRC and Companies House (CH) on your behalf.
